Skoda Rapid CNG
Days back, Skoda Rapid CNG was spotted at a gas filling station in Pune. While it was on the station, some images of the car filling gas went on social media.
With the images, it can be expected that there are high chances that Skoda may launch the CNG variant of the Rapid in the Indian Market.
If Rapid CNG gets launched, it will be powered with a 1.0-Liter Petrol engine along with the necessary changes and modifications in the engine of the Rapid.
Skoda has already offered CNG variants in their cars in the European markets with 1.0-Liter 3-cylinder TSI petrol engines, but with the CNG, the power output of the car decreases.
If compared to the regular 1.0-Liter petrol engine, it produces 110 HP, whereas the CNG variant produces only 90 HP.
The power drop in the engine is expected as the CNG variant of the Rapid aims to be much more fuel-efficient than the regular petrol engine.
As mentioned earlier, the car has started the road trials and, Skoda has not much to do, as already their CNG cars are present in the International market.
With the launch of the Skoda Rapid CNG, the manufacturer will be increasing the sales of the cars. But still, as CNG fuel is not easily available in the Indian market, it may be limited to some cities.
You cannot expect that grunt and the punch which you receive from the petrol TSI and the diesel engines from the Rapid CNG.
It is expected that the Rapid CNG will be fitted with a 13.8 kg CNG tank, which will be capable of doing 368 km run on a full tank.
Along with the CNG tank, the car will also be equipped with a small petrol tank so that in case of Emergency, when the gas goes out, it can be utilized.
Speaking about the pricing of the Skoda Rapid CNG, it will be priced slightly premium over the petrol engines and will be starting from Rupees 7.49 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom).
